Minerals, metals, coal and agricultural wastes Briquette making
Briquette market
Minerals, metals, coal; coke and etc. briquettes are made based on different goals: increasing minerals mechanical strength, increasing corrosion resistance especially in transportation, reducing material waste and modifying chemical reactions kinetics. Materials are charged to the briquette machine and mixed with suitable binders. Briquette machine rollers apply certain force and briquettes are produced. Sponge iron (fines) cold or hot briquettes, coal or coke fines briquettes, metals briquettes (Mo, W, etc.) and agricultural wastes briquettes are common products for these purposes.
Due to development of energy based industries and growing rate of transportation infrastructures in Iran, coal or coke export to other countries has grown rapidly. Coal or coke fines which produce in the coal production process (10-12% of the total product) have created environmental concerns. Collecting coal/coke fines and producing briquettes is a very useful method for recovery of coal fines and preventing from distribution of fines and dust to the environment.
In sponge iron production, producing sponge iron cold or hot briquette or recovery of products fines (10-15% of total product) in the form of briquettes result in: increasing product’s mechanical strength and corrosion resistance in addition to save energy and preventing material wastes.
In other industries like magnesium production, briquette making is common which increases materials contacts and modifying chemical reaction kinetics. Using briquetting method for agricultural wastes is also common in these fields.
